Immigration Items of Interest

Yesterday, April 30, 2009, DHS announced changes in its worksite enforcement policies.  DHS is refocusing its worksite enforcement on those employers who are exploiting the broken immigration system.  The focus will now be on criminal prosecutions of employers who knowingly hire unauthorized workers.  In 2008, large-scale raids resulted in at least 135 employers being arrested.  With DHS' new focus, which will entail more investigation, it is expected that substantially more employers will be arrested.  The penalties for these offenses range from fines to imprisonment.  If you are an employer and you are in need of advice or representation, no matter which state you reside, in don't hesitate to contact this law office by e-mail at cynthiatolb@aol.com or by calling (352)622-7600.
